Giveaway promotions where purchase is not required in order to enter. These generally generate the largest volume of entries through basic random draw, programmed learning/qualified entry (answering basic product related questions), and automatic entry (coupons, credit card, usage, telephone, etc.).
Games
Usually involve Game Cards provided both free and with purchase. Games remove the random draw element of the promotion. Games inherently have a higher level of interaction. Some examples of online and offline Games are Instant Win, Collect & Win, and Match & Win.
Contests
Contests are promotions which require skill and may actually require purchase as well. Each entry is judged on objective criteria, leaving no ties between entrants. Individuals have control over the entry quality when they participant in promotions such as Essay Contests, Photo Contests, Cooking Competitions, etc.
